Ridiculously basic, avoid

I was very surprised and intrigued by my DNA ancestry results. The service was great from start to finish!

Not as scientific as I was hoping – a lot of the histories are subjective

Both my husband and I participated. We were both AMAZED at the results and have looked at things with fresh eyes. The ancestry included many places that we had previously visited. With no idea of our ultimate heritage. Fantastic. We both have the bug now. Special mention for Richard in customer services who was a star. Need to know which side X or Y contains which now…

My wife and I enjoy our Ancestry Origin charts very much. The quality of the charts is very high and we’ve learned about the unusual location of several of our ancestors. I have ancestors in Venezuela and my wife has ancestors in Greece!

Purchased AncestryByDNA in 2014 (23andMe had been shut down by the FDA). In hindsight it was a mistake not to go with Family Tree DNA – the AncestrByDNA reports and certificate were quite basic and there was no way to connect with living relatives which is what most companies let you do these days

I’ve since purchase Ancestry.com’s AncestryDNA test, I don’t have the results yet but I wanted to share my AncestryByDNA experiences

Buying this was a mistake, it’s super basic compared to Ancestry.com

I am very impressed with my results, some of my ancestry I was aware of from my own research and knew that I definitely had heritage from Canada and from France, however this test uncovered many more interesting connections and has widened my interest to do further research into these other areas. I would recommend this test to anyone interested in ancestry and would consider it as an ideal present for the person who has everything!!

I took the Ancestral Origins test because I am a 52 year old man who was adopted at birth and have no information about my biological family. It was a difficult decision because my adoptive parents gave me everything they could, but now they are gone I felt I needed to find out more about myself.

Apart from knowing that I was born in a hospital in Croydon, I had no background. When I received my results I discovered that I have very strong links to the Iberian peninsula and Canary Islands. 6 out of my 10 strongest matches were in this area, so that is the obvious place for me to start my research to find out about my roots. I think it will take quite a bit of work, but without the Ancestral Origins test I would never have had any indication that I had Latin connections.

I would recommend this test to anyone who wants to find out about their ancestors, whilst it wont tell you that your great grandfather came from a particular city, it does give valuable background to work with in your quest to discover your famial history.

I did the ancestry test and it provided a very interesting insight into my origins!

Would recommend it as a first step in discovering your genetic history.
