Paternity Testing Reviews for GenTrace

Getting a refund from Gentrace is literally impossible. So make sure you’re going to use the test if you order it. They will give you the run around. I followed the return policies and returned the kit in May 2022 and was suppose to be issued a refund 14 days later. It’s August 16 and I have yet to get a refund.

I am thoroughly disgusted with this place. I had no idea they were located in Canada when I ordered for my son so when I went to UPS (preferred by Gentrace) to mail my sons samples back I was told it would be $83 just to mail a small envelope with swabs in it so I decided to mail them USPS instead. I also had no idea the cost to mail to Canada was any different than within the US so the samples were inadvertently mailed with insufficient postage. Here we are two weeks later and the samples have not been returned to me or delivered to Gentrace either. My son drove 800 miles for me to help him get the samples in secrecy because he does not believe his girlfriends new baby is his and neither does the rest of his family. Meanwhile sadly he is still bonding with this child. Had Gentrace aka dnafamilycheck.com been honest that they were located in Canada I would not have ordered from them and we would not be in this situation. At this point we have no idea where the samples went. Probably thrown away by Customs and all they have to say is we will mail you new ones for $12 +shipping. My son isn’t making another 800 mile trip to deal with this company that should’ve been honest in their ad to begin with but wasnt. Instead they state this in their ad “Our laboratory has a network of over 3000 facilities worldwide for chain of custody specimen collection services for legal casework” but their true location is Canada!
Do not order from them if you live in the US or you’ll be paying a big fee to mail back to them.

This place is HORRIBLE, I am sitting here reading these results and I notice that if theres a bad result right up under it theres a so call good one SORRY GenTrace I know thats you!!! And the customer service is 1 PERSON she’s on the voicemail and she’s the ONLY person who answer when you call. IF YOY CAN DONT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE HORRIBLE.

I placed my order in April and didn’t get my sampling kit until May. I also did not get confirmation that my results were sent out until June. When I called Gentrace to get help with getting my results emailed (because USPS lost my mailed report) to me they told me that my account’s password was changed by someone, and that there was a block on my account. Their only response was to reach out to the person who changed my password for help! When I asked if there was anything else I could do, like provide my originally billing information, card information, address, or original confirmation email, they said flat out no. So now my mailed results are lost, and I can’t get emailed results despite paying $100 for this test. If you live in the US avoid this company. I regret dealing with them for the past 2 months. Save your time, money, and sanity and go with another company if you need a Paternity test.

I didn’t know anything about paternity testing, but I decided to go with Genetrace. They helped me through everything. Sent my swabs back by Fedex (so I can track it) and got my answer in two days. Would recommend cause they are fast and customer service was great

Nowhere does it tell you that they are based out of Canada. With so many US options, I would have never gone through this company. I mailed the kits back 3 weeks ago and still do not have the results. Their cust service number is worthless. Use a different company or you will regret it.

It wasn’t enough to be excited, we both sent our tests back December 12th they claim they still haven’t gotten the alleged fathers DNA. The people who answered my questions via email were very generous to get back with me although I have paid for service that claims a quick turnaround. If you want a quick turnaround be sure you do not preform or send your test during holiday season and make sure they do not have a backlog. Some people like to have time to digest these facts which I had time off to do although now I don’t. Research! research! research!

My results are a week late. I have repeatedly called and emailed, to no avail. They have made many promises over the last week to either call me or email me with an update, but that never happens. I don’t believe anything they tell me at this point. No stars.

The customer service was good. I was initially panicking but was comforted to know that there is a 10 day (minimum) mailing turnaround both ways. ( I’m located in Texas US and the processing lab is in Canada) . The processing was quick (2 days) and the testing comprehensive ( 16 markers). Good experience overall for the price !!

GenTrace left us feeling a bit cold, we felt they were a bit too professional and we’re not those sort of people
