I’m adopted and have known since a young child. Through some searching, I found my birth mother and was happy to learn I have several siblings. The identity of my birth father was not confirmed by my siblings. My birth mother had passed by the time I found the information and I was curious to learn if my birth father was the same as my siblings. I found the DDC contact information from my state’s board of health web site. I made the initial contact and inquired if it was possible to determine paternity using a brother of my alleged father. They said it was and I scheduled a test for me, and then arranged for my “uncle” and a brother to have testing complete. It was a very easy process, the appointment at the lab took about 15 minutes. Once all the testing was complete, I received the test results from DDC. The test showed nearly 100% that my brother and “uncle” were related. Unfortunately, I was not related to the uncle so I’m still searching. If I make progress, I’ll certainly use DDC in the future.
