DNA Sequencing Reviews for Nebula Genomics

Nebula does a great job starting with the full read on your genome and then they provide you with tools to further explore some of your genetic traits. The info they provide is linked to the most current research which of course is changing all of the time. I think they are right in emphasizing how complex the nature vs. nurture relationship really is. My reports have helped me make some better informed decisions about how I live my day to day life and that feels good.

The difference between Nebula Genomics and all the others is clear. You get ownership over your own information, and you decide if you want to share that information. In addition, every time a new discovery is made, it is added to your genomic library along with an explanation of how it relates to your body. While the other companies give you a generic glimpse into ancestry, NG continues to provide information about your body and your health.

I have really loved my experiences with Nebula Genomics! As a geneticist and biologist myself, having the ability to download and view my own genomic information has been amazing.

After carefully considering several DNA testing services I decided to go with Nebula Genomics, simply because it seemed to be the only service promising real anonymity and control over the resulting data. They promise they won’t share data with anyone else, unless explicitly instructed to do so for health studies. This was particularly interesting for me. Along with the usual traits and ancestry map that most of these services offer, they also provide a full data download (in various formats), so you can do what you like with your sequenced data if you know how. Now, at the time I signed up that was pretty much it, which I was more than happy with, however, since then they’ve added microbiome results and regularly updated DNA results reflecting new genomic discoveries. I’ve found these updates to be very insightful. It’s fantastic!

My greatest concerns are privacy and security of my DNA data. In the wrong hands, my DNA data could be used to cause severe damage to my reputation, my health, or my close relationships. In light of recent revelations regarding genetic genealogy websites, the need for strong security is even greater.

Nebula Genomics is how DNA sequencing services should be structured if you want to explore your genealogy and human characteristics/biometrics. I teach computer science and a large unit within our studies is the privacy and security of our digital data, where I examine the dangers of exposing your personal information via the Internet through services and apps. I don’t have to reach too far to present examples of compromised digital data each day of class. The other commercialized DNA sequencing companies who offer ancestral and genealogy mapping, though do a fine job at reporting, sell and commodify your personal data for their own agenda and profit. Through the brilliant business model of Nebula Genomics empowers the user/person with the security of blockchain encryption and more importantly the choice of whether they want their data to be used for research or anything for that matter, brings a much needed awareness of what we should all be demanding when it comes to our own personal data. While all of the sequencing companies and research institutions have indeed helped bring down the cost and advance science, the potential for unethical exploitation has already been evident and has potential for a greater danger if an understanding of “privacy and users” rights are not cared about, or even comprehended by those who chose to participate. Nebula is a “no-brainer” and has foresight in to this amazingly interesting but still unknown territory giving the user privacy, choice of participating in DNA research and the choice of getting paid for their own DNA… other companies literally own you. I value this business model and truly believe consumers interested in this service should demand the same from the other companies or become vulnerable to these exploits. Do your research and read all of the “Privacy & Agreement” terms of the others… it’s scary. Just Google George Church’s Nebula Genomics and read the countless articles on Wired, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, etc…

Extending your service to the UK would be fantastic. I managed to use you as I travel for work to the US in my role as a field application scientist in the field of genomics. I am a huge fan, what you are doing is revolutionary.

Great service so far. The initial time from the sample kit being received till results were ready took a bit long but I was expecting that, not sure if that’s due to the process itself or a backlog of kits needed to be processed.

I love that I was able to have my dna sequenced by redeeming points I earned by participating on your website (taking surveys, completing my profile, & referring others to sign up – easy peasy!). Level of my DNA data available for me to download was very thorough – much more than I’d anticipated. And, tons of informative reports, & a extensive library online also, I couldn’t have asked for more. Love you guys!!

So far, I’m happy with Nebula. Parsing the results is a bit of a learning curve so I take it a little at a time.

I love the library and weekly additions. I find it hard to understand using the data otherwise, and would love video tutorials on how to upload the info to the programs that help me save and understand it. If you start offering 30x clinical grade testing, it would be important to know how to use and decipher the information.
