Summary

In summary, the service from 'That DNA Company' was very good - I would use them again if I needed to test whether I was the biological father of a child.

Full Review

The 'That DNA Company' website was clear and reassuring compared to the others I’d researched. I was pleased to see that the site explained why I should include the mother in the testing process, and that this was included at no extra cost. That said, I ordered the 'One father-Once child' test so the mother's DNA wasn't required.

Ordering Experience

The ordering process was quite long and required a lot of information, much more than the others I’d researched. I was also informed that if the mother wasn’t prepared to sign a form (even though I’d chosen for her not to be tested) I needed to provide evidence of my ‘parental responsibility’ for the child, such as my being named on the child’s birth certificate

There were no extra fees on top of the advertised price and I received the kit the day after ordering. It came in an inconspicuous envelope – no one could have known what it was without opening it which was reassuring.

The kit was very professional, easy to use, with instructions that were easy to understand. There was very little paperwork to read and complete, I was pleasantly surprised by how simple the process was. An addressed envelope was included to return the samples – I was pleased to see the postage had been paid. The next day I received a confirmation email that the samples had been received.

The Results

The results were ready five working days after receiving the confirmation email, which was how long they told me it would take. To get my results I was told to log in and download a one-page PDF file (shown below).

The PDF was personally addressed to me and clearly stated that I was not the biological father of the child tested. In addition I was told that 15 ‘autosomal' DNA markers had been analysed which proved I was not the father.
