What you’ll receive

You’ll receive a DNA testing kit that allows you to collect a saliva sample from the cat you wish to test by rubbing a swab inside its mouth for 10 seconds. The results will show one of the possible genotypes, which include:

• NN (Two copies of the normal allele) – offspring will not produce the mutation if both parents have this test result status
• NP Heterozygote (One normal copy and one copy of the PKD mutation) – mutation can be passed on even if breeding partner has no mutated gene
• PP (Two copies of the PKD mutation) – this finding would, if at all possible, be very rare, as these cats are known to die in utero
